Princess Mononoke - San
Model: Kat
Photographer: Kat
Debuted: Anime Expo 2006
Inspiration: I had 3 days to make a cosplay for my sister, from an anime she had actually seen. It was narrowed down pretty quickly.
Comments: Due to time constraints, this costume is missing a few things such as a wig and the mask. I'll get around to it someday.
Construction:
| Head & arm bands: Straight up black elastic with buttons sewn on.
Earrings: Made from Paperclay and pearlescent paint.
Necklace: Also Paperclay.
Cape: I scored big for the middle of summer and found this fabulous, high quality faux fur at Jo-Ann's. I cut it into dead animal shape and hot glued two pieces back-to-back (forget trying to sew fur). The tail was formed by a tapered cylinder with some fluff inside.
Smock: Muslin, patterned freehand and sewn. I think this is the only thing I've ever made from start to finish without screwing up once.
Dress: Polyester non-stretch, also patterned freehand and sewn.
Spear: Cardboard and paper mache on a stick. Will not withstand battle.
